MEDICAL TREATMENT
Title: to show the effect of antibiotics against bacteria.
Aim: the aim is to set up a practical to know the effect of antibiotics and discuss about it
Diagram:

Apparatus
Bunsen burner
Heat proof mat
Bacterial culture
Aseptic syringe
Pen
Tweezers
Alcohol
Glass spreader
Petri dishes
Antibiotics discs
Method: first the table was clean with disinfected spray, we then light up the Bunsen burner. Then we took 2 agar plates and label each other with our initials, date and organism on the bottom of the plate. We used aseptic to take the micrococcus to each of the plates, and then we use a glass spreader to spread the bacteria over the plate. We then place the antibiotics disc on each plate using tweezers. After these we place these discs in the incubator for 24 hours to 48 hours.
Result for first disc
Antibiotic
Disc 1
Disc 2
Erythromycin (E)
1.5
1.6
Chlormphenicol (C)
2
2
Tetracycline (T)
2.4
2.2
Streptomycin (S)
2.4
1.9

Result for disc two

Discussion: there are much different between the two. In disc one its series 2 are much longer than series one but in disc 1 series 1 are longer than series two.
In our experiment only two antibiotics worked well they are tetracycline and streptomycin in disc 1 than disc 2, but that doesn’t mean that didn’t work at all in disc 2.they did work but not as they did in disc 1. The reason is this antibiotic kills the bacteria, the other antibiotics worked like almost the same between the two discs as you see in the above graph. That is not only my experiment this antibiotic worked but also my classmate got almost the same result. So I think my result is accurate.

GENE THERAPY
Task 2
Gene therapy is an experimental technical that uses genes to treat or prevent disease.
Gene therapy is designed to introduce genetic material into cells to compensate for abnormal genes or to make a beneficial protein. If a mutated gene causes a necessary protein to be faulty or missing, gene therapy may be able to introduce a normal copy of the gene to restore the function of the protein. Also it used for treating inherited diseases, like cystic fibrosis and Huntington's disease, the scope of potential gene therapies has grown to include treatments for cancers, arthritis, and infectious diseases.

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disease, this means it caused by irregular genes and you are born with it. Cystic fibrosis is caused by a defect in the CTER gene; this controls the production of a protein that controls cell transport of chlorine ions. The gene therapy gives the patients copies of correct genes so they make the protein by synthesis.
Heamophilla is a group of inherited blood disorders in which the blood does not clot properly. Bleeding disorders are due to detect in the blood vessels, the coagulation mechanism, or the blood platelets. Infected individuals may bleed spontaneously or for longer than healthy person after injury or surgery.
The gene therapy is the replacement of a defective gene sequence with a corrected version to eliminate disease for lifetime of the patients. To cure Heamophilla, scientist removes cells from a person with hemophilia. Usually liver cells, but other cells, muscles, fat etc. the scientist then alter the cells genetically by inserting new genetic material into them that reprograms the cells to produce factor 8 or 9. The cells are then reinserted into the person with hemophilia and viola. The genetically altered cells produce factor. The cells then survive and reproduce.
DIABETIES: diabetes is a metabolic disease in which the person has high blood glucose (blood) sugar, either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body’s cells do not respond properly to insulin. Metabolism refers to the way our bodies use digested food for energy and growth. The insulin is a hormone that is produced by the pancreas. After eating, the pancreas automatically release an adequate quantity of insulin to move the glucose present in…
